Nonprofit, Religious, Arts & Entertainment Facilities

New construction. Major expansions. Renovations.

Since our founding, we have performed work in the non-profit, religious arts & entertainment facility market sector. Over the years we have built or renovated many churches, lighted church spires, built or updated auditoriums, and renovated museums. We understand the needs of this market for the work to be completed in a clean, protected environment, while maintaining a schedule.

Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens & Center for Sustainable Landscapes

Phipps Botanical Gardens covers 15 acres with 12,000 square foot display greenhouse, production greenhouses, an exhibit staging center, a nature lab and perhaps the “greenest” building in the world–the Center for Sustainable Landscapes (CSL). Hanlon has been the electrical contractor on many of Phipps’s projects installing power, data, solar, and lighting in this unique facility.

Heinz Hall

Heinz Hall is the cornerstone of the Pittsburgh Cultural District. Originally built as a movie palace, the structure was regarded as the most magnificent theater between New York and Chicago. Hanlon has worked on many upgrades and renovations to this iconic facility.

East Liberty Presbyterian Church

Just East of Pittsburgh, the East Liberty Presbyterian Church, with its beautiful Gothic-style architecture, is one of the most notable structures in the East Liberty skyline. Hanlon was the electrical contractor on the recent renovation as well as the lighting of the Tower.

The Mattress Factory

The Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh is a contemporary art museum that specializes in site-specific installation art, resulting in several permanent art installations. It gets its name because the original owners of its building were the Stearns & Foster Mattress Warehouse. Hanlon installed exterior lighting and power upgrades as part of the entrance and new reception desk projects.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh-Oakland

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh-Oakland is the flagship branch of the system, featuring a rich collection of materials, including a vast music, film, and audio department, and unique resources like local history records. Hanlon Electric has performed power and data work on many renovations over the years in this historic landmark building. Most recently we worked on the exterior power and lighting upgrades to the library’s main entrance.
